Mario Mariani graduated with a Master's degree in Management of
Technological Innovation at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna in Pisa,
following a Bachelor's degree in Business. He subsequently
specialised in European Union financing of technological research
and innovation.
As CEO of Tiscali Italy, Mario Mariani is in charge of all Italian
operations.
From 1993 to 1995, Mario worked for Consorzio Ventuno (a regional unit appointed to develop the scientific and technological park in Sardinia) and was responsible for a project financed by the European Community for the diffusion of technological innovation at the PMIs. At this time, he also advised companies and the Università di Sardegna on European financing for Research and Development.
In 1995, he helped establish Video OnLine (Italy's first national ISP as well as the world's first free, rather than subscriber, system), taking part in the whole start-up phase as Product Manager. When Video On Line was acquired by Telecom Italia in 1996, Mario continued as Product manager at TIN.IT.
Mario joined Tiscali when it was established in 1998. Starting as marketing and product manager for Italy, he is then appointed Senior Vice President Business Development and Board Member of Tiscali Services, in charge of the development of Media and Value Added Services and of Tiscali Lab.
