Tiscali HQ - entrance

Built to a design by the Aldo Rossi Associati Studio, the buildings of the new Tiscali headquarters occupy the central part of the Sa Illetta telematics park.

Repetition, union and variation are the concepts adopted in the design of Sa Illetta, almost as though it were a musical score. Indeed, the alternating fullness and emptiness can be measured by analogy to the keyboard of a piano, the interdependence of whose elements generates different sounds and tones. The series of buildings has been designed in a uniform manner in accordance with this concept of grouping which helps creating a single, clearly identifiable identity.

All the buildings are inter-linked on the ground floor by an open portico, whilst the spaces between the various constructions are characterised by various types of courtyard: some with porticoes, others like gardens with plants, others again paved like small public squares. The courtyards also constitute a system of passageways and links between buildings, offering varied routes. The main entrance is positioned centrally between the two longest buildings, which house the offices of the senior management, the conference room and the “guest-rooms”.

The external materials draw from Sardinian tradition but installed using modern techniques ensure ease of maintenance and repair. For the walls, facings in natural stone have been chosen (red trachyte) on walls, with bands of Orosei marble.
