Tiscali UK announces DSL broadband for the same price as dial-up at £15.99 a month

London, 8th October 2003 - Tiscali UK announces DSL broadband for the same price as dial-up at £15.99 a month Tiscali today announces its Autumn/Winter promotion that will offer consumers the best priced DSL broadband ever, with the introduction of a new 150kbps broadband service for £15.99 a month (incl. VAT). The offer includes a FREE MODEM and £25 set-up fee*.

This means that customers can now choose from three Tiscali Broadband Packages including:

-Up to 3x faster 150kbps at £15.99 a month, £25 set-up, FREE MODEM
- Up to 5x faster 256kbps at £19.99 a month, £50 set-up, FREE MODEM
- Up to 10x faster 512kbps at £26.99 a month free set-up, FREE MODEM

At £15.99 a month 150kbps Tiscali Broadband is now the same price as standard Anytime dial-up internet access. All three packages are extremely competitive when compared to NTL’s 150Kbps service at £17.99 and 512Kbps services from BT Yahoo at £29.99, AOL and Freeserve at £27.99 per month.

Tiscali is able to offer this groundbreaking price for broadband because it is delivered across Tiscali’s own national network. Steve Horley ISP director says: "We want to make broadband affordable for everyone. The new offer gets rid of the price gap between narrowband and broadband and should remove the biggest financial barrier to broadband uptake."

This announcement is evidence of the company’s pan-European strategy to roll out the most competitively priced broadband services in each market. The company announced last week that it is now signing up over 17,000 new broadband customers per week across Europe.

Tiscali broke the £20 price barrier a year ago when it launched 256kbps broadband at £19.99. Mr Horley continues: "Tiscali is the only mainstream non-cable provider currently offering the 150kbps and 256kbps services. Because our £15.99 package is only available on the Tiscali Network, it can’t be easily matched by any other ISP."

Tiscali broadband customers also get 100Mb free web space and access to a whole host of additional content and services including, membership of the Tiscali Music Club with access to legal music streaming and downloading from a catalogue of over 180,000 tracks and free broadband sports content including Zurich Premiership Rugby.
