Tiscali inaugurates its new headquarters "Sa Illetta", based in Cagliari

We have a customer base of 8 million of users, we sell services in 15 countries and deliver 5 millions of emails every day through a 60 thousands km fiber optic network. All of this thanks to your daily commitment and your passion. Cagliari, 19th September 2003 – An island heart for a Europe-wide company. In the presence of local and National authorities, local and international guests, the company’s new headquarters "Sa Illetta" (Cagliari), were inaugurated.

A synthesis between modernity and local tradition, the buildings are linked together to form a single unit that is closely blended in with the natural surroundings. The company’s history shows that it has always been closely tied to its origins, starting with its very name, a reference to Sardinia’s oldest traditions. Sardinia is the island of silence.
 
The inviolate and inviolable heart of this island and this silence is the village of TISCALI, formed of typical ‘nuraghe’ houses. It lies hidden at the heart of a mountain which has provided refuge for the Sardinian population over the centuries from the attacks of invaders, and where silence has reigned supreme for thousands of years. For this reason, thinking of silence as the basis for communication, TISCALI has become the name for a great project: an Internet Communication company that offers private individuals and businesses throughout Europe with the means to communicate better and in greater freedom thanks to the most advanced technologies.
 
Thus, only four years after the launch in Italy of the first service offering free access to Internet and its quotation on the New Market, Tiscali inaugurates its headquarters in Sardinia, presenting a new, avant-garde base, which sets traditional workplaces alongside a space dedicated to the IT faculty of the University of Cagliari, a canteen, a crèche and a library. The inauguration of the offices at Sa Illetta represents an important, shared milestone, a sign of the commitment of over 3000 people throughout Europe who have over the past few years dedicated themselves with passion to the company’s growth.
