Tiscali and EBU in worldwide online partnership for Eurovision song contest 2004

Cagliari, 23rd August 2004 - Tiscali will broadcast Europe’s biggest television entertainment event live and completely free on its portals and on www.eurovision.tv
That has always been an active supporter of the union in diversity, is now supporting the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, the famous music event that has represented various different European cultures since 1956.

Having successfully broadcast numerous music events including concerts by U2 and Sting, the MTV Europe Music Awards and recently www.46664.com, the biggest joint web event ever staged, Tiscali once more confirms its position as the ideal Internet partner for the streaming of top quality audio and video events thanks to its special Content Delivery Network.

Following an agreement with the EBU, European Broadcasting Union, the largest professional association of national broadcasters in the world, Tiscali transmitted online, on May 12th, the webcast of the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, live from Istanbul.

A key feature of 2003 was the ongoing improvement in profitability at EBITDA level, which was positive for the fifth quarter in a row. The EBITDA margin is also improving continually (8.2% of revenues). EBITDA breakeven has now been achieved in all of Tiscali’s main markets.

The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 will be transmitted online by Tiscali on May 15th at 9.00 p.m.

Numerous artists representing a total of 36 countries will be appearing on stage at the Abdi Ipekci stadium, as well as some of the biggest names in international music, including, ABBA, Céline Dion, Julio Iglesias, Cliff Richard, Udo Jürgens and Olivia Newton-John. ABBA fans can also view a previously unreleased video of the famous Swedish group, which will be premiered online by Tiscali.
