Cagliari, 24th February 2004 - New Tiscali VoIP services forthcoming
Tiscali has announced the signing of an agreement with Netcentrex for the provision of new IP telephony services. After being the first operator in Europe to introduce, already in the year 2000, an IP-based voice service that enabled users to make calls from PC to PC, from PC to phone and from phone to PC, Tiscali is today preparing a major re-launch of its "Voice" offerings.
The re-launch is part of a specific strategy being pursued by the company which, taking advantage of its network and ADSL user base, is planning a series of selective investments in LLU (local loop unbundling), aimed at the provision of quality services through the "triple play" deployment of data-voice-video offerings.
For the development of its new voice over IP services, Tiscali has decided to adopt Netcentrex, the benchmark platform of voice and data network convergence for next-generation services. This choice will enable Tiscali to offer a range of telephony products characterised by high quality standards and very competitive rates.
In Italy, the service is due to be launched within summer 2004.
"We are ready to take advantage of all the new opportunities that technological evolution offers us, and Voice-over-IP services are with no doubt one such opportunity. Since the very beginning Tiscali has always positioned itself as an Internet Communication Company, with the specific aim of offering clients all types of Internet-based communication services, from connectivity to voice and, before the end of this year, video as well. What we are doing today with our "triple play" offerings is perfectly in line with this mission," said Sergio Cellini, Tiscali General Manager, Italy
