Tiscali UK launches new 16 Mb ADSL 2+ product

Tiscali UK

London, 17th January 2008 - Tiscali today announces the launch of its new high-speed ADSL 2+ service, offering customers an up to 16Mb broadband connection for just £17.99 a month. The next-generation service will be bundled with a free evening and weekend calls package, with further packages incorporating the Tiscali TV service to be introduced soon.

The service will initially launch to existing Tiscali customers on 650 exchanges around the country. Customers who can receive the ADSL 2+ product will be contacted as the service rolls out and will be able to upgrade online in the ‘my account’ area on the Tiscali portal www.tiscali.co.uk . As part of a phased roll out, ADSL2+ be made available to new customers from February, who will be told as part of the registration process whether the service is available to them and also as part of the TV triple play bundle packages for existing and new customers.

Steve Horley, managing director of Tiscali’s consumer division, says: “Not only can customers on ADSL 2+ expect a faster service; they can also expect a more stable one. ADSL2+ also means we can offer higher speeds to more people. ADSL 2+ is capable of up to 24Mb, those very close to the telephone exchange can expect to get very fast service and those who have previously only experienced the lower end 2 or 3 Mb will be able to get an improved service. It will also mean that we can bring our TV service to even more customers as the normal threshold to support TV is 3.2Mb.”
